Mastering Local and Mobile Search
It doesn’t do much good to have a strong web presence – a website/blog, Facebook page, etc. — if people can’t find you easily. Whether you have a brick-and-mortar presence, an online store, or both, you need to show up in search. Especially Google search.
But the world is changing rapidly. The world is going mobile. People expect to find you from their cell phones, quickly, while they’re stopped at a traffic light. If they know your proper name, there is little problem, but if they’re just looking for a specific service or product locally, you need to be prepared to meet their expectations.
With mobile comes another challenge: More people are using voice for search. When you type in keywords, you do it one way, because you want to make few keystrokes. But when you simply have to say what you want, it’s another case, because it’s easier to talk than to write. The searcher also is less likely to organize his/her thoughts before speaking, so the search phrase for voice can be radically different.
The solution is not as difficult as you might think, but it requires planning – and communication with your existing customers. In this class, Gary Dillard of Prism Communications will spend 90 minutes discussing how to make your web presence easily and readily findable for your local audience. Cost is $19.
The class will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Cochise College, Sierra Vista Campus, Room 900. Contact the SBDC today at (520) 515-5478 to sign up. Or click here for a direct link to the signup page.
Take advantage of SV Chamber app
Did you know the Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce had its own “app” for the rapidly growing mobile audience?
And did you know that it’s free to members?
To take advantage of it, however, you have to complete your website on the Chamber website. But that’s free, too!
If you want someone to help you complete that website, we’ll be happy to do the job for you. Just give us a call.
